Where traditional RTMP-based solutions drop frames the moment a packet is lost—and SRT recovers in roughly 8 seconds—RSP maintains a local buffer of up to 30 minutes, verifying and re-sending every frame until the cloud confirms receipt. What is an encoder? Why do I need one?
An encoder is the device—hardware or software—that takes a video signal from your camera or switcher and converts it into a format suitable for live streaming over the internet. Most streaming services use protocols that transmit video like a one-way signal: if data is lost in transit, it’s gone. Resi encoders use RSP to cache, verify, and re-send that data until it’s confirmed perfect in the cloud. That verification process is what makes a Resi stream fundamentally different from anything else on the market, and it’s only available through Resi’s hardware encoders or ProPresenter Stream.
What platforms can I stream to with Resi?
Resi supports simultaneous multi-destination delivery to Facebook, YouTube, your own website player, RTMP destinations (TikTok, Twitch, Vimeo, Subsplash, and more), and OTT apps—all from a single workflow. No separate setups per platform and no additional bandwidth required per destination.
Is there a delay on Resi streams?
Yes, and it’s by design. Resi’s reliability comes from verifying every frame before it reaches your viewers—a process that creates a typical delay of around 90 seconds to 2 minutes when streaming to social platforms. For most use cases, including worship services, board meetings, conferences, and games, that tradeoff is worth never losing a viewer to a buffering interruption. Resi continues to reduce this delay through ongoing transcoding improvements.
