Living As One Becomes Resi

Since 2016, Living As One has served thousands of non-profits, churches, and for-profit organizations across the globe with ultra-reliable livestreaming solutions. As Living As One has grown, we have often received feedback from customers about confusion regarding our name. While it was meant to convey unifying organizations and empowering them to communicate with their audiences better, the name does not clearly communicate the benefits that the platforms deliver.

“Living As One has been a wonderful name full of a rich history for us,” says Paul Martel, CEO, “however, we have the world’s leading video streaming architecture, and our name often confuses customers and potential clients. We believe it’s time we have a name that better reflects our technical leadership in the industry and the excellence that our products and services deliver. To be honest, we likely should have done this a few years ago.”

Meet Resi

We are excited to announce that as of August 18, 2020 Living As One has rebranded as “Resi” to better reflect the offerings of the company. Resi is short for “Resilient,” representing the “Resilient Streaming Protocol” at the heart of Resi’s (formerly Living As One’s) technology.

While the Living As One name has changed, we are not changing who we are, and our mission, vision, and values remain the same. We are still dedicated to helping organizations to better serve their audiences through world-class streaming technology and proactive support, holding the same principles and values that we began this journey with.

Living As One Streaming History

Living As One was founded in 2016 to fill a void in the professional video market for a highly resilient livestreaming solution. We didn’t start out with the intention of creating a software company, but rather to fix a problem for our church. Almost every Sunday, our church experienced quality issues with our livestream between campuses, and after trying every streaming solution available at the time we realized we would have to solve the problem ourselves. After many trials and failures, we eventually created what would become the most resilient livestreaming solution available, through the LA1 Resilient Streaming Protocol (RSP).

With typical livestreaming, packet loss on any public internet connection results in buffering, glitching, dropped frames, and a poor viewing experience. Living As One’s Resilient Streaming Protocol is first delivery method which accounts for these issues resulting in perfect video delivery even in the case of a complete temporary internet connection outage.

At the heart of the system is the LA1 encoder, which enables the Resilient Streaming Protocol’s reliable transmission. Video inputs which are encoded in the system are cached locally to the encoder and sent to Living As One’s cloud on a short delay. With this method, there is no time restriction on how long it takes video data to be received, and the LA1 cloud can wait for a perfect and complete copy before the viewer sees it, resulting in a perfect video experience with no buffering wheels, enabling exponentially more people to watch. This technology works on troubled internet connections and even cellular hotspots!

Living As One streaming quickly became the leading provider for reliable livestreaming for churches, non-profits, and for-profits, serving more than 80 of the top 100 churches in the United States and thousands of other organizations around the globe.

Living As One’s Multisite Platform, our original solution, provides reliable single or dual channel delivery of video content with up to 16 channel audio between multiple physical campuses. At receiving campuses, LA1 decoders provide easy-to-use DVR playback of video content. Living As One’s Livestream Platform, developed shortly after, enables the same reliable delivery of video content to viewers watching online through embed codes, social media, and other destinations.
